YorkJitsu

The annual Shihan Memorial course will be held in Keighley on the 18th September 2010 at the Holy Family School.  Set-up will begin at 11:00 with the course running from 12:00 until 17:00.  A number of senior instructors from around the country will be teaching at the event which includes training for both adults and children.

The training course will be followed by a masquerade ball for juniors.

 The Yorkshire Jitsu Regional meeting will be taking place on Saturday the 4th September 2010 in Leeds.  An agenda has been circulated and all club instructors or a club representative should be in attendance.

Clubs should provide details of club events, running dates, etc. as provisional dates for all regional events and courses will be agreed at this meeting.

 Sensei Yates will be running a phase 1 nage no kata course in Leeds on Saturday the 11th of September.  The course will take place at the University of Leeds Sports centre and is suitable for purple belts and above.

No times or costs are yet available.

The Yorkshire region is currently playing host to a visiting instructor.  Sensei Jules Robson is up from "down under" and will be running a course on the 15th August.

The course will take place at Leeds University Sports Centre (a.k.a. 'The Edge') between 13:30 and 17:30 in hall 3.  There are no details yet on cost, but we would expect it to cost £10 at most, which is fantastic value for the guy who oversees our Australasian clubs.

This August through October York Town Jitsu Club is working with the City of York Council to provide a fantastic opportunity for young people to try Jiu Jitsu.

Due to another commitment for Sensei Stephen Millard, the session being held on Monday the 26th of July at YTJC will be taken by Sensei Jessica Young.  Sensei Young has covered a number of sessions recently and as usual it promises to be an interesting session.

Through July and August this summer (2010), YTJC will only be running classes on Monday evenings.  These months are traditionally quieter with many taking the opportunity for a well deserved summer break.  The cost of hall fees simply prohibits running the classes twice a week during this period without effectively doubling session fees.

Monday sessions will continue as normal through this period and Friday sessions will be reinstated on Friday 3rd September 2010. 

Sensei Millard is unable to take Monday night's session due to work commitments.  Sensei Jessica Young who covered another session earlier this year will be covering the session in his absence.

Sensei Young is a former YTJC student and has trained regularly with a variety of instructors across the region.  Her last session was very popular so make sure you don't miss out on this opportunity to get another perspective on Jitsu.

Revised details about the imminent Yorkshire region grading are now available.

The grading will be taking place in Leeds on the 19th June 2010 and the start time is 10:30.  The hall is booked until 15:30 so this will be the latest finishing time.  Lower grades may finish earlier and will as usual depend upon the numbers grading and the structure of the grading as outlined by the grading examiner.

 It's time once again for a regional course. This time Sheffield University Jitsu Club are hosting and the visiting instructor will be Sensei Tony Finding.  The course will run from 11 AM on Saturday the 22nd May 2010 and will cost about £15.
