Locking
Locks are used extensively in Jiu Jitsu. Much of this is down to the fact that punching
and kicking other armoured Samurai was not that effective, but locks are. Also the
control provided by locking techniques means that they can be used to control a much larger
opponent more quickly that a strike (unless its a well aimed strike of course)
Starting at the bottom of the body, ankle, knee and to some extent hip locking techniques are
covered by leg locks. Finger,
wrist and arms/elbows are covered separately.
Spine and neck locks are generaly covered when dealing with
full body restraining techniques.
