Locking

Locks are used extensively in Jiu Jitsu. Much of this is down to the fact that punching and kicking other armoured Samurai was not that effective, but locks are. Also the control provided by locking techniques means that they can be used to control a much larger opponent more quickly that a strike (unless its a well aimed strike of course)

Starting at the bottom of the body, ankle, knee and to some extent hip locking techniques are covered by leg locks. Finger, wrist and arms/elbows are covered separately. Spine and neck locks are generaly covered when dealing with full body restraining techniques.
