University Club - Location
The University of York Jiu Jitsu club is based within Heslington - a region of York in the North
East of England. York is an historic city with many tourist attractions, and
the University is just within walking distance of the city centre - though its
still a good half an hour's walk or so.
You can get to York quickly from the UK motorway network. Travelling north on the M1 or A1 you'll come to the A64
intersection. The city is 15 minutes away via dual carriageway.
Travelling south on the A1, you'll also leave the motorway at the A64.
From the west on the M62, join the M1 northbound until you reach the intersection with the A64.
York is also served by the A19, A1079 and A166 routes into the city.
The Heslington campus is based in the south-east of York, and it is easily accessible by car from
the A64 section of the outer ring road, via the A1079 or the A19. The University is of course well
sign posted.
The Jiu Jitsu sessions are held at the far end of the major/main hall in the University's sports centre. This is
location 12 on the map of the campus shown below.
National Rail provide train timetables to help
you get to York by train - which is located on the UK's East coast main-line (GNER), so there are plenty of trains.
The number 4 bus runs to the University and stops at the railway station as well as in the city centre.
Timetables for this bus can be found on the
First Group web site for York.
